How Incolink and Cbus support the industry

Posted on May 27, 2024

As the cost of living continues to rise, Incolink continues to be the safety net for the construction industry. Keeping workers’ entitlements safe for when you need them most.

Our Financial Counselling service is free to members and provides support to workers facing hardship.

Support for members facing financial hardship

Our partner, Cbus Super^, is equally committed to serving members in the best way possible. This includes assisting members who are unable to work due to illness or injury, or applying for early access to their super for reasons such as severe financial hardship.

A member, who is under preservation age, may be able to access super early, if they’ve been receiving eligible Commonwealth Government income support payments* for a continuous period of 26 weeks, and are unable to meet reasonable and immediate family living expenses.

The maximum amount that can be paid to a member is $10,000 less any applicable tax and only one financial hardship withdrawal from any super fund can be made in any 12-month period. This payment can help those who are experiencing severe financial hardship.

How we work alongside Cbus to support members when the unexpected happens

The support of Incolink’s Financial Counselling service and Cbus Super Coordinators can also assist many through severe financial hardship.

For example, an Incolink member may be faced with a serious illness and preparing to undergo significant treatment.

This unexpected diagnosis could leave the member unable to work and unsure how to meet ongoing repayments on a reduced income.

Not knowing what to do, they could reach out to us for support.

Our Financial Counsellor would be able to negotiate with the bank on behalf of the member, resulting in more manageable repayments.

We could also offer support in making an Income Protection Claim through Total Claims Solutions, which would allow our member to focus on upcoming treatment.

We may also refer the member to a Cbus Super Coordinator who could assist with an insurance claim if eligible, which could help to pay off debt and reduce financial burden.

These services are included in your membership and can help you through financial hardship.
