Paws4 is an Incolink campaign to promote the benefits that dogs bring to our health and wellbeing. A dog can encourage us to get out and about, stay active, and be connected to our community.
In Australia, around 40% of dogs are not walked enough. Going for a walk can support you by boosting your mood, while also supporting your physical and mental health.
A four-footed best friend provides unconditional love and support, which is especially important during tough times.
How Stormi helps Eliza
So let’s pause for (paws4) thought for a moment to share some of the science behind this.
Dogs make us feel less alone and are there when people can’t be.
Owning a dog can help you live longer. Studies suggest that dog owners have lower blood pressure levels and improved responses to stress. Patting a dog can reduce levels of cortisol, a major stress hormone.
We are more social with dogs. Walking with a dog makes you more approachable so it is easier to make connections with other people.
Dogs make us happier. They are natural mood boosters and just by being with them our level of oxytocin, the “love hormone” can increase.
During the #Paws4 campaign, we will give our members a chance to share their dog experiences. You’ll be able to Pause4 for thought, exercise, connection and to build new habits.
Follow us on social media and share your doggy tales, photos and videos to celebrate our furry friends.
Did you know only 25% of dogs are walked daily in Australia, and 40% of dogs in Australia are not walked enough? Pawsing for a moment to go for a walk can be a significant mood booster, and can improve your physical and mental health.
Did you know your dog can ‘dog-tect’ how you’re feeling?
That’s right, animal health professionals say that dogs can detect changes in human behaviour and hormones.
Our pups will want to get up close and personal to sniff out when something is wrong, so keep a lookout for doggo snouts trying to nose into places they don't belong.
Did you know the body releases these chemicals to help with our overall health and wellbeing.
There are four chemicals designed to lift our mood, these are:
And all of these chemicals have one thing in common: they can be activated by interacting with our furry friends 🐶
We all get stressed from time to time but you might not have noticed the physical impacts it can have on your body.
When you’re calm and happy, your body is able to function properly. When you’re stressed your body can go into ‘emergency’ mode.
Being out with your pup is a great way to de-stress, meeting your dog's needs whilst also setting your body up for success.
You can take your furry friend out to the beach, around the block or to the dog park.
