April 2022
In this edition:
- Employment: 6.2% of the Victorian workforce are construction workers.
- Apprentices and trainees: There were 76,620 Trainees and Apprentices from June 2021. 18,080 of these were female which is an increase of 53.5% since June 2020.
- Building activity: There are $779M in projected building starts in Victoria.

February 2021
In this edition:
- BCI Outlook by construction sector: Overall: 26% decrease projected in the value of total construction starts for Victoria (year ending March 2021 compared to year ending March 2020)
- Industry confidence: Property industry confidence has rebounded strongly, from 64 points to 115 on the index (Neutral Confidence = 100).
- Employment: Total number of payroll jobs in the Victorian construction industry have decreased 19.6% since March 2020
- Apprentices and trainees: There was a decrease in the number of construction trades apprenticeships commenced in the year ending June 30, 2020 compared to the previous year - in Victoria (9,780 compared to 10,180).
- Building activity: There was an 8.6% increase in dwelling approvals for December (seasonally adjusted), after a 4.6% fall in November.
