Nurture apprentices for a strong future

Posted on May 01, 2019

By Rebecca Casson – CEO, MBAV

In these early months of the year, it’s exciting to look at what’s on the horizon for the rest of 2019 and beyond.

A good deal of the conversation at Master Builders right now is around the achievements of apprentices and their crucial role in keeping the building and construction sector productive and thriving.

As I write this, we’re in the thick of our regional apprentice awards, throwing the limelight on apprentices in all manner of building and construction trades to recognise those who have distinguished themselves as being serious about their work and eager to make their marks in the industry.

These awards are hard-earned over a long period of time, so the apprentices are rightly excited about the recognition they’re receiving and what it says about the direction of their careers.

Skillful apprentices are essential to Victoria’s building and construction industry, the largest full-time employer in Victoria. Consequently, apprentices are our future, and central to the vitality and livability of every corner of our state.

As Victoria grows at the fastest rate of any state, so grows the demand for the next generation of builders. Nurturing careers in building and construction not only helps hardworking people find rewarding careers, it represents a smart and long-lasting investment in the communities they serve. Opportunities and rewards are plentiful, and there has never been a better time to pursue them.

Master Builders Victoria takes great pride in these apprentices and in the outstanding, award-winning training we provide to members of the industry throughout their careers. We believe you’ll be very happy to have the opportunity to work with them.
