Incolink's Women in Construction (WiC) Program supports women at all stages of their construction careers—from those wanting to enter the industry to experienced workers looking to upskill and progress. The program provides practical assistance including career guidance, job matching, training and ticket support, resume help, and workplace advocacy.
WiC also works closely with employers and sites to improve retention, address barriers, and create safer, more inclusive workplaces. By responding to individual needs and real‑life circumstances, the program helps women build sustainable, long‑term careers in construction.
Partially funded through the Australian Federal Government, the program has been placing women in careers across Victoria, South Australia and New South Wales. We spoke with Nina D’Angelo, one of our Victorian Career Advisors about her experiences in helping women break into the industry and how your organisation can benefit.
Nina, who spends each day working with our employee clients, has seen first-hand how few opportunities there are for women who are looking to make the jump into the construction industry. “We need more employers to support women in male-dominated fields,” said Nina. “Recently, I was attending an event at Victoria University where I spoke with 15 women who had finished their carpentry pre-apprenticeship… all of them were struggling to find a place to take the next step.”
“We have both new starters and people who are looking to upskill who are more than qualified and will benefit any organisation that just need their first placement to begin their journey in this industry.
The Women in Construction team work to remove the barriers between an organisation and their potential employees by ensuring that jobseekers are job ready when they are referred to an employer, with continuing post placement support for both the employer and employee once they commence employment.
The Women in Construction team helps jobseekers obtain training tickets and accredited course qualifications, doing the hard work so that employers can be confident that their new hires will be ready to hit the ground running. There is no cost of recruitment for organisations seeking employees, just a commitment from our Women in Construction team that they will match you with a qualified women ready to work.
