Celebrating Government Investment into New Energy Skills

Posted on May 01, 2025

We are pleased to hear the Federal Government’s announcement to invest $20 million towards a new National Training Centre in New Energy Skills in West Melbourne.

Industry training centres play a vital role in building and maintaining not only a skilled workforce but a safe one.

The construction industry is facing critical skills and workforce shortages, and we need more plumbers to build our homes, hospitals, schools and infrastructure of the future.

This facility alone will upskill over 2,000 workers to help bring energy upgrades like heat pumps to households, businesses and help address skill and workforce shortages.

Speaking about today’s announcement Incolink CEO Erik Locke said “At Incolink, we’re proud to be the largest private funder of industry skills training and welcome today’s investment announcement by the Federal Government. We look forward to working with TAFE’s so students can gain access to the best industry training available”.

It’s fitting that this announcement took place at the Plumbing Industry Climate Action Centre (PICAC) whose innovative approach is core to Australia’s training and skills system.

Their specialisations with world leading infrastructure and eye for future demand to combat climate change.

With completion rates at over 90% the Plumbing Industry Climate Action Centre (PICAC) is testament to what industry led training can deliver.

We’re proud to be longstanding supporters of PICAC and industry training more broadly.

We’d like to thank the Federal Government for their continued commitment to supporting a strong, skilled, safe and sustainable industry.
