Celebrating the work of regional Victorian apprentices

Over the past few months we have sponsored and attended the regional Victorian Master Builder’s Apprentice Awards.

The awards program recognises the great work of apprentices across Victoria, celebrating dedication and craftsmanship.

A great example of this is Devon who was just one of the talented apprentices showcased for their work. Devon works for Stuart Allen Building and was nominated by the Building Skills Centre. He was recognised as a Developing Leader at the Ballarat Regional Apprentice Awards.

When speaking about Devon’s nomination, the judging panel said. "Devon’s interest in carpentry was sparked when his current employer was completing renovation works on his family home. When Devon was offered an apprenticeship position, he jumped at the opportunity and has never looked back."

Devon is one of the many bright young workers in the construction industry, who were celebrated at events across the state.

Along with Devon, we’d like to congratulate the following apprentices for winning Apprentice of the year in their region.

• Brodie Duynhoven, Alec Smith, and Daniel Currie in the South-West
• Tyson Stracha, Devon Orr, and Mitchell Welsh in Ballarat
• Cain Berryman, Emmie Banfield, and Vincent McLindon in Bendigo
• Phillip Robichaud, Fraser McCarty, and Ethan Slater in the North-East
• Samuel Graziotin, Dale Harris, and John Saxton in Gippsland

"The calibre of talent amongst our award winners is amazing," said Master Builders Victoria CEO, Michaela Lihou.

"Right across Victoria we’ve been celebrating the best of the apprentices in our regions and I’m so proud of the ongoing impact they’re delivering for the future of the building and construction industry."

In addition to the award winners, hundreds of finalists were presented with certificates – in recognition of their dedication and hard work.

For young apprentices having this chance to see their skills recognised can make a difference. It can open countless doors in industry – showcasing their talent to prospective employers. We’d like to thank Master Builders Victoria for creating this opportunity to recognise young talent in our industry.

We’re looking forward to celebrating the achievements of the regional winners at next week’s statewide Apprentice of the year awards in Melbourne.
