CEPUTEC ON COURSE TO DELIVER OHS SKILLS

Posted on Sept 12, 2018

Victoria’s plumbing professionals have the unique opportunity to build and reinforce their Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) skills and knowledge thanks to the range of training courses available at the Plumbing Industry Climate Action Centre (PICAC).

People working in our industry are often exposed to OHS risks at work, so it is crucial they are equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to work safely in a potentially dangerous environment.

CEPUTEC at PICAC provides a wide range of accessible OHS courses to help keep industry professionals safe when they are out on the tools.

These courses provide practical health and safety training for professionals working in the plumbing and fire protection industries. Training courses available at the Brunswick and Geelong campuses include First Aid, Forklift and Boom lift, Asbestos Removal and Confined Space Entry. All courses are available throughout the year.

CEPUTEC also delivers the Certificate IV and the Diploma of Work Health and Safety (WHS), both of which are 12-month courses specifically designed for those looking to expand their careers in WHS. The high-risk nature of work in our industry makes it vital that OHS training of the highest standard is available to practitioners at all stages of their careers – something available through CEPUTEC.

It is important to recognise those who achieve these high standards, and this is the role of the Excellence in Occupational Health and Safety Award that will be presented at this year’s Plumbing and Fire Industry Awards (PFIA). This award is presented to a professional who has completed OHS training and is committed to, and actively promotes, on-site health and safety.

The PFIA’s will be held at the Sofitel Melbourne on Collins on 1 September 2018. The PFIA is a fantastic opportunity for the industry and a high-profile industry event. More information can be found at plumbingfireawards.com.au.
