Plumbing industry celebrates World Plumbing Day 2019

Article by Earl Setches - Secretary CEPU Plumbing

2019 is set to be a particularly exciting year for the plumbing industry here in Victoria. We are getting ready for World Plumbing Day, which is a celebration of our trade held all over the world on March 11.

In Victoria, one of the ways we mark the occasion is to hold the annual World Plumbing Day Apprentice Skills Contest at the Plumbing Industry Climate Action Centre, Brunswick campus.

We have a great group of talented plumbing and sprinkler fitting apprentices preparing for the contest, which will be held Friday 9 March 2019. The finalists from both categories will be eligible to be selected to represent Australia later this year at the United Association’s International Apprentice Skills Contest in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

However, there are many ways to celebrate World Plumbing Day. Get together with others in our trade and hold a morning tea or a barbecue lunch. Remember to share your World Plumbing Day event photos on social media or simply post that 11 March is World Plumbing Day.

World Plumbing Day is one day of the year where we get to celebrate our industry and it gives us all the opportunity to take a moment to recognise how important, and in some cases, life-changing, plumbing can be. I commend the great work of all our plumbers and sprinkler fitters out there and wish you all the best on World Plumbing Day for 2019.
