After a successful pilot program earlier this year Incolink CEO Erik Locke was proud to launch an expanded skin checks program at Hacer Group’s Assemble TSK site last week.
We have partnered with Cancer Council Victoria and Healthcare Australia to deliver the program that will see nurses provide skin checks to thousands of workers across commercial construction sites throughout Victoria and South Australia.
Two in three Australians will be diagnosed with melanoma by the time they reach 70.
Talking about the program Erik Locke said “Construction workers, due to the outdoor nature of their jobs, are exposed to 10 times more UV radiation than indoor workers, dramatically increasing their chances of getting skin cancer.”
At launch 45 commercial construction sites have signed up to take part in the program.

It can be challenging for workers to book in for skin checks which are usually conducted during business hours.
Speaking about the importance of the program Erik Locke said “By delivering free and convenient skin checks on site, we hope to be able to reach more workers and play a critical role in the early detection of, and survival from, skin cancer”.

Earlier this year we shared Sam’s story where he talks about how an Incolink on-site skin check saved his life.
Sam decided to have a spot on his back checked and was surprised when the tester flagged a suspect spot on his face instead.
“Within a week, I was in hospital getting surgery for a skin cancer that I didn’t even know I had and that could have caused me to lose my eye,” he said
“I was lucky because they caught it in time.”
“My message for anyone who works in construction is to get your skin checked because skin cancer isn’t something you want to mess around with.”
